Moving Reservoirs to Usage Points: IdeasBank Memon

Reference 3563   Class: YELLOW

Availability: * * * * * * * *

When a floating freshwater lake reservoir contained sufficient water, it could be towed to the coast near the desired usage point.

INDICATIONS

  • Because the fresh water is less dense than the sea water, the filled reservoir would continue to float on the surface.
  • With a reservoir made up of a number of cells, individual cells could be towed away for use.
  • Alternatively, a filled reservoir or cell could be pumped or decanted into a transport structure for towing.
  • Development of devices and control software is possible here, with new approaches open to patenting or trade-secreting.
