Ros in India

Roslyn Noel and Madeleine Foster made a quick trip to India between November 24 and December 5 this year. They visited the Northern Triangle -- New Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra (site of the Taj Mahal).

Their overall impressions were of the beautiful buildings, the smoggy atmosphere, and the rubbish and animals everywhere (cows particularly, but others also, including elephants).

They travelled on a package tour. This included flights from Perth to New Delhi and reverse. As the tour company used Etihad, this meant both the outward and return legs went via Abu Dhabi in the Gulf.

There were only two other travellers in their group, a couple from Mandurah, Ted and Cathy. Fortunately, they were easy to get on with.

Many very impressive buildings

Even though they expected a great sight at the Taj Mahal, they agreed it was stunningly impressive, the best point of their trip.

Even the gates of some buildings were works of art

Tent set up in front of a building for an event

Interesting old relics were to be seen everywhere

Elephant rides available in a grand fort -- note smoggy atmosphere, even away from big cities
