INDICATIONS
Most modern television and mobile phone transmissions use shorter-wave parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, functioning on line-of-sight transmission.
Line-of-sight restrictions may limit range of such transmitters more than power fall-off with distance.
Transmitters at heights of 1-2 kilometres would have excellent range and line-of-sight characteristics, and if above cities would suffer few building-shadow effects.
Transmitters could radiate into defined transmission cones onto the ground below instead of less-defined areas, saving power.
No safety concerns with radiation from local mobile/cell phone towers.
Development of devices and control software is possible here, with new approaches open to patenting or trade-secreting.
