Learner and Provisional Drivers
The introduction of Cirtes will make training and education in road use much more efficient for new (learner and provisional) drivers. The same procedures could also be used for existing licence holders from out of State or overseas who might benefit from extra help in familiarizing themselves with West Australia conditions.
Learner and Provisional drivers (L- and P-plate licencees) already have a range of conditions imposed on their driving, such things as maximum speeds, times of operation, number of hours of supervised driving, and so on. Cirtes will make it easy for close monitoring of such conditions, and tailored routines could be made available to allow L or P drivers to progress to full licence status more rapidly.
Learners requiring to accumulate hours of supervised driving might have this automatically checked. For example, when a learner driver entered a vehicle and inserted their licence, the system might require insertion of the supervisory person's licence as well, before re-insertion of the learner's licence.
Another page suggests provisions to assist overseas and interstate drivers and users of hire cars in WA.
